16. When should you post online? Often, and don't stop testing.
One of the most common questions people have about online marketing is:
When is the best day and time to post something?
The answer is (drumroll please)...
It depends.
You can search, find, and read tons of “answers” to this question. Even after the years we’ve been doing this, with good success, we still can’t give you one single answer for sure.
At least not an answer that will apply to you and your audience.
We know the answer when it comes to our audience. But even then, there is no absolute answer. Sometimes a day and time that worked well in the past no longer works as well today.
So, the only true answer to that question is:
You need to test.
Test when you post things on different days and times. Make note of when you saw the best reach and engagement. Make sure to consider how often you post content.
Here's what to do
- Check out Jordan’s Sonner’s post in the Inner Circle Engage group about how she tested her audience. It’s a great, and thorough example of what you can (and should) do.
If you aren’t already, start actually tracking when you post, and what the results are. After a while, you’ll start to get a clear picture of when is best for you to post content.
- Don’t rely 100% on what the “experts” say. Become your own expert with your own data.
