11. Want more engagement? Add this to your social posts
When you post a meme, a video, an article, or anything else online, you want engagement, right?
While a low amount of reaction and comments doesn’t mean what you post isn’t working, it’s always nice to get that immediate gratification. We all want it.
So, how do you increase the chances to get your audience to engage?
Always add a short caption whenever you post content.
For example, if you post an article, comment why they should care enough to read it. How will it benefit them? Is it funny? Entertaining? Useful? Inspirational? They'll be curious to know your thoughts.
While this is something we can recommend you do, it’s challenging to teach how to do it well. It’s something you get better at with practice.
It doesn’t have to be a long paragraph, either. In fact they're better when short and punchy. Sometimes just a few words will suffice. But always write something.
In other words, always avoid letting the content itself do the talking. Your audience wants to hear from you, personally. Why you posted it and what's on your mind.
Many agents just share content without adding their own two cents. Doing that makes no sense, and leaves a lot of cents on the table. The audience wants to hear you endorse what and why they should spend a even a few seconds on what you shared.
It’s like watching a football game on TV. They have announcers (aka “color commentators”) for a reason — to make your experience more enjoyable. To add more relevance. More context.
So be a “color commentator” on social media. The end result? You’ll get more engagement…

Pro Tip: We've recently added AI to help you write captions. In the bottom-right corner of the caption field, you'll notice a "Generate caption" link. Click it and adjust the settings as you see fit, then click the Generate Caption button.
It will understand the context of the meme or article you've selected before displaying a few "relevant" caption ideas. There's also a field where you can prompt it with specific instructions.
