How to Prepare Videos for Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels are designed specifically for videos in a vertical 9:16 format (similar to the way your phone screen looks when held upright). If your video is too wide or in landscape orientation, Instagram does not currently offer a built-in option to crop or resize it for Reels.

Additionally, Reels have a time limit of 90 seconds. If your video is longer than this, you would need to trim it down or post it as a regular video instead.

To upload your video successfully as a Reel, we recommend:

• Adding your branding and downloading your video

• Resizing or cropping your video before uploading. You can use free apps like CapCut, InShot, or your phone’s built-in video editor to adjust the size and fit for the Reel format.
