Connecting your social accounts to Lighter Side is an important step to save time and streamline your marketing. Instead of logging into each social platform individually to upload content, you can connect your accounts directly to Lighter Side and manage your content marketing all in one place.

Supported Social Networks
Lighter Side currently supports the following social networks (as of January 2026):
- Facebook (Publishing is limited to Facebook Pages)
- Instagram (Business or Creator accounts only)
- X (formerly Twitter)
- LinkedIn (Profiles only)
How to Connect Your Social Accounts
- Log in to your Lighter Side account.
- Navigate to Integrations in your account settings under My Profile.
- Click on the social network you’d like to connect.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the connection.
Connecting to Facebook
Facebook does not allow third-party tools to publish content to personal profiles. Because of this policy, Lighter Side can only connect to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles.
To connect a Facebook Page:
- Log out of Facebook first to ensure you connect to the correct account.
- From your Lighter Side Social Accounts page, select Facebook.
- Log in using the Facebook account that manages your Page.
- Grant all requested permissions.
- ⚠️ All requested permissions must be approved for the connection to work properly.
- Select the Facebook Page you’d like to connect.

Facebook Professional Mode (Important Note)
If you are using a personal Facebook profile in Professional Mode, you can connect it through the FB Post Manager app. However, this connection has limitations:
- We can retrieve basic profile details (ID, name, profile picture).
- We cannot publish or schedule posts to Professional Mode profiles.
- Publishing via the API is only supported for Facebook Pages.
- Without a Facebook Page, the connection is read-only and cannot be used for posting or scheduling content.
💡 Recommendation: To unlock full publishing and scheduling features, create and connect a Facebook Page.
🚧 Troubleshooting: Connection Issues
If you encounter an error message while trying to share content to Facebook from our platform, it's likely due to an expired connection. Don't worry, it's easy to fix!
- Step 1: Go to your social account settings page on our platform.
- Step 2: Locate the social account connection experiencing the issue.
- Step 3: Click on the "Refresh" button
- Alternate step: Disconnect the social connection and go through the connection from scratch.
This will re-establish the connection between our platform and your Facebook account, allowing you to share content seamlessly.
Connecting to Instagram
Instagram Business accounts are connected through Facebook (Meta). Your Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page that you manage.
❗Requirements:
- Your Instagram account must be converted to a Business (or Creator) account.
- Your Instagram account must be connected to a Facebook Page.
- You must have Administrator or Editor access to that Facebook Page.
To connect your Instagram account:
- Convert your Instagram profile to a Business profile (if you haven’t already).
- Link your Facebook Page and Instagram account (see walkthrough below)
- Open a separate browser tab and log out of both Facebook and Instagram.
- Return to your Lighter Side Social Accounts settings page, and select Instagram.
- Follow the steps in the resulting pop-up, which will require you to enter your Facebook account credentials and select your Instagram Business profile.

Connecting your Lighter Side account to your X platform (formerly Twitter) profile is easy.
- In a separate browser tab or window, open your X profile and log out
- Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the X platform logo.
- Follow the steps in the resulting popup which will require you to enter the credentials of the X account you want to connect.
Connecting your Lighter Side account to your LinkedIn account is a straightforward process.
- In a separate browser tab or window, open LinkedIn and log out of your account
- Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the LinkedIn logo.
- Enter your LinkedIn account credentials in the resulting pop-up and sign in.
Connecting your Lighter Side account to your Pinterest account is a straightforward process.
- In a separate browser tab or window, open Pinterest and log out of your account
- Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the LinkedIn logo.
- Enter your LinkedIn account credentials in the resulting pop-up and click Give access.
- Make sure you select the boards you wish to publish content to.
FAQs
Why can’t I post to my personal Facebook profile?
Facebook does not allow third-party tools to publish to personal profiles. Lighter Side can only publish to Facebook Pages due to Facebook’s platform policies.
I’m an admin of my Facebook Page. Why can’t Lighter Side find it?
This usually happens if:
- You’re logged into Facebook as a business page instead of your personal profile
- You don’t have Admin or Editor permissions on the Page
Log out of Facebook, log back in as your personal profile, then try connecting again.
Can I connect a Facebook profile in Professional Mode?
You can connect it, but publishing and scheduling are not supported. Professional Mode profiles are read-only through the API. To post content, you’ll need a Facebook Page.
Why won’t my Instagram connect?
Instagram connections require:
- A Business or Creator Instagram account
- A Facebook Page connected to that Instagram account
- Admin or Editor access to the Facebook Page
Also, logging out of Facebook and Instagram before connecting often resolves connection issues.
Can I connect a personal Instagram account?
No. Instagram must be set to a Business or Creator account to connect.
What social platforms does Lighter Side support?
