Connecting & Managing Your Social Accounts

Connecting your social accounts to Lighter Side is a very important step to save time with your marketing. Instead of signing in to each social network separately and uploading our content, you can connect your social account directly to manage your content marketing in one place. 

Lighter Side connects to the following social networks (as of Apr 2025)

• Facebook (Due to policy changes in 2018, publishing is limited to Facebook Pages)
• Instagram (Business / Creator accounts only)
• LinkedIn (Profiles only)
• X (formerly Twitter)
• Pinterest

To connect your social accounts to your Lighter Side account, please open your Social Accounts settings page. Then click your desired social network and follow the resulting process.

Facebook doesn’t allow sharing content to personal profiles from third-party applications like ours. Because of this policy, you will not be able to connect our platform to your personal Facebook Profile — only Facebook Pages. 

To connect your Facebook page:

1. Please log out of your Facebook account first to make sure you connect the right one
2. Select the Facebook button, and enter the correct account credentials
3. Follow the resulting steps. (All permissions must be given to successfully connect.)

Instagram Business accounts are connected through your Facebook (Meta) account. Your Instagram Business account must be linked to a Facebook Page you manage with an Administrator or Editor role.

To connect your Instagram account:

1. Convert your Instagram profile to a Business profile.
2. Connect your Facebook Page and Instagram account (see walkthrough below)
3. In a separate browser tab or window, log out of Instagram and Facebook.
4. Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select Instagram.
5. Follow the steps in the resulting pop-up, which will require you to enter your Facebook account credentials and select your Instagram Business profile.

Here's a step-by-step walk-through

Connecting your Lighter Side account to your X platform (formerly Twitter) profile is easy.

1. In a separate browser tab or window, open your X profile and log out
2. Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the X platform logo.
3. Follow the steps in the resulting popup which will require you to enter the credentials of the X account you want to connect.

Connecting your Lighter Side account to your Linkedin account is a straightforward process.

1. In a separate browser tab or window, open Linkedin and log out of your account
2. Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the Linkedin logo.
3. Enter your LinkedIn account credentials in the resulting popup and sign in.

Connecting your Lighter Side account to your Pinterest account is a straightforward process.

1. In a separate browser tab or window, open Pinterest and log out of your account
2. Go back to your Lighter Side account’s Social Accounts settings page, and select the Linkedin logo.
3. Enter your LinkedIn account credentials in the resulting popup and click Give access.
4. Make sure you select the boards you wish to publish content to.

Troubleshooting: Connection Issues

If you encounter an error message while trying to share content to Facebook from our platform, it's likely due to an expired connection. Don't worry, it's easy to fix!

• Step 1: Go to your social account settings page on our platform.
• Step 2: Locate the social account connection experiencing the issue.
• Step 3: Click on the "Refresh" button
• Alternate step: Disconnect the social connection and go through the connection from scratch.

This will re-establish the connection between our platform and your Facebook account, allowing you to share content seamlessly.
