Generating leads from Articles you publish
There are three distinct ways to potentially generate leads from the Lighter Side articles you post.
Here’s why I say “potentially”: We’re not in the leads business around here. I’m sure you already realize that, though. We’re more about top-of-mind awareness and branding yourself as a fun, yet professional agent.
So you’ll never hear us promise you a ton of leads. We’ll leave that to the true “lead gen” companies out there.
Think of our lead gen tools as more of a “bonus” than anything else. But don’t overlook this bonus because our members are actually snagging leads from their shared articles.
Here’s everything you need to know:
1. Use contact forms on each article page
Many of our articles are written to establish the authority of the agent sharing them. This may inspire your audience to want to reach out and ask further questions about the topic in the article you shared. The contact forms on your article pages will allow them to contact you.
- One is presented in the top heading
- The other is presented in the sidebar at the bottom of your branding information
2. Use CMAs as a lead magnet on your articles
Question: Why does the general public love Zillow!? Well, certainly not because of their accuracy! (Sadly, they don’t know any better.) They initially love it because they want to know their home’s value! Of course, we all know it’d be a heck of a lot better if they’d ask you what their home was worth… Which is why we built the ability for you to offer just that, every time you post one of our articles.
All you have to do is make sure that your Lead Generation Tool is turned on.
- Visit your “Blog Settings” page and scroll down until you see Generate CMA leads from articles.
- Move the toggle into the on position (if you haven’t already).
- Now when you share an article, a CMA button will display in the top heading.
- You will also see a URL appear that you can use to drive traffic directly to a page where the CMA form shows without clicking a button (like a landing page).
Btw, our system doesn’t manually estimate their home’s value. Using this method will require rolling up your sleeves and actually performing the CMAs.
3. Use Branded Booklets as lead magnets on your articles
You can share articles that tease your readers with a free downloadable copy of your branded booklets. They’ll submit their info in the opt-in, and in return they’ll get a copy of your booklet…
Using it is easy - Watch this tutorial video
First select the booklet you want to offer:
- Visit the Branded Booklet section in the member’s site; open the booklet you have in mind
- Once your booklet is ready, click on “Lead Gen” in the navigation menu, then click on “Article Opt-In Forms” under the page title.
- Switch the toggle next to “Offer this booklet on articles you share“ into the “on” position.
- Make any edits to the ‘Thank You’ email that your prospects who request this booklet will receive.
Next, display the booklet optin box on an article
- Visit the Articles section and choose an article you want to offer your booklet on.
- Once the article loads, click on the “Lead Gen” button the article’s title.
- In the dropdown box, toggle on the “Lead Gen Opt-In Forms”
- Select the Branded Booklet you just turned “on” for articles in the steps above.
- Now the opt-in box will display at the bottom of the article for your audience.
You can only select one Booklet for a specific Article at a time.
I want to offer a different booklet on a specific article, but I don’t see it listed in the lead gen booklet dropdown
Review steps 2 and 3 in the list of instructions above. Make sure to turn this toggle on for the booklet you wish to offer in articles. Once you do, that booklet will appear in the list.
When someone fills out the form to request a booklet on your landing page, or one of your booklet opt-in ads on an article, you will receive an email with the lead's name and email address.
If you are not seeing any emails after a while, be sure to check your spam/junk folder to make sure the lead emails are not accidentally being sent there.
If they are, you may need to "whitelist" our emails on your email service.Whitelisting instructions for any email client are common and can be searched up online.
